One of the ranch highlights will be to meet “Chester”, our 2400 lb. bull sire and his herd. With an unforgettable presence he will put a reverent smile on your face. As our guests you’ll get a close up “buffalo experience”, excellent photo-op, and if your interested, a full interpretive tour covering history, native art, and present day sustainable ranching of buffalo. Calving season which is late spring to early summer is an exciting time to visit the ranch. (Click here to see a few photos of our buffalo) Many guests plan on using the ranch as a base camp to go off and explore and yet find that the family is happy relaxing and exploring right here on the ranch. The guest house is fully contained so you can feel like your in a home away from home. With your own professionally maintained outdoor hot tub, big fenced yard, bicycles, miles of walking trails, creek, pond, river, and wood fired sauna access, you can stay right here and enjoy. If your looking for more thrill and excitement we can help you out with that. The Golden area holds opportunity for exciting fun and recreation. In the winter you'll find it a playground for winter sports. We are just minutes from world class skiing and snowboarding at the new Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, famous for it’s “champagne powder”! (Voted the best powder in North America and second best steeps by Skiing Magazine) As well in the winter we have heli-skiing, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, sledding, snow-shoeing, ice climbing and ice fishing. In the summer enjoy hiking, white water rafting, horseback riding, golfing, biking, kayaking, fishing, canoeing, paragliding and more! Bring your camera, it’s a special place for photography. Rocky Mountain Buffalo Ranch is located in the beautiful Blaeberry Valley, 10 minutes north of Golden, British Columbia. 1 hour from Lake Louise, 1.5 hours from Banff, 3 hours west of Calgary, Alberta. Our closest international airport is Calgary International. The drive between Calgary and Golden through the Rocky Mountains is one of the most beautiful in the world. Golden is called "the heart of the parks" as it is surrounded by 9 National and Provincial Parks!
The ranch itself is located on 80 acres of meadows, wetlands, and forest with 360 degree mountain views. Guests enjoy buffalo roaming, year round creeks and ponds with native fish, and pristine frontage along the Blaeberry River which is fed by the Mummery Glacier. We are surrounded by amazing vistas of the Canadian Rockies and the Purcell Mountains. Wildlife, such as elk, moose, wolves, bears, fox, mountain goats, osprey, bald eagles, and many other species of birds and native fish pass through this land. It is truly a spectacular place! |
